Cheryl feels pressure ahead of full-time role on The Voice UK

Cheryl is reportedly struggling with doubts as she prepares to become a full-time coach on The Voice UK, her first major role after six years away from the spotlight. A source told Closer she sometimes calls friends saying she is unsure she can manage it, though the contestants have reminded her of her early-career resilience.

Cheryl, 43, appeared as a guest mentor alongside will.i.am on the latest series last month and is now filming the next series, which ITV plans to air in 2027. A source said she experiences “imposter syndrome” but is “not a quitter.”

Away from television, Cheryl is the official face of Nivea and recently signed a £500k deal to front a new Deliveroo advert. She is also raising nine-year-old son Bear, whose father was the late Liam Payne.

A separate source told Closer that Girls Aloud are in talks about a return to the stage next summer, after their 2024 reunion tour. The group’s 25th anniversary falls next year, and the discussions reportedly concern Hyde Park’s British Summer Time series.

The source said Cheryl is “really nervous” about returning to music and has had her confidence knocked over the years. A comedian on BGT recently mocked her singing, prompting Alesha Dixon to defend her. Friends have urged Cheryl to be kinder to herself; the source described her as her own toughest critic.
