The transition was far from seamless. Language barriers in Prague forced an immediate pivot, yet Fen discovered an unexpected professional edge: her Southeast Asian heritage became a sought-after asset in a European commercial market that favored diversity over the Eurocentric beauty standards she faced in the Philippines. She successfully booked commercials and theater roles, though the experience required a relentless, proactive approach to networking that left little room for complacency.
By 2014, the couple relocated to Zurich for her husband’s banking career. Faced with the prospect of rebuilding her professional identity for the third time, Fen opted for a career shift, trading the stage for writing. The move coincided with a shift in her personal philosophy regarding the marital wage gap. Rather than viewing her husband’s corporate success as a point of competition, she embraced a collaborative approach to their household. This evolution allowed her the flexibility to raise their daughter, born in 2019, while building a freelance writing career that culminates in the 2026 launch of her debut picture book. For Fen, the decision to step away from the relentless pursuit of traditional professional accolades has not been a concession, but a deliberate choice that redefined her personal fulfillment.
