Ukrainian authorities recently released multiple combat videos demonstrating the successful deployment of interceptor drones against Russia's high-speed Geran-5 fleet. Models such as the STING S and the locally produced SPYS have shown the ability to match the 500–600 km/h speeds of Russian drones, which previously maintained a significant advantage over conventional air defense systems. According to Ukrainian officials, these interceptors have already neutralized over a dozen jet-powered units, providing a tactical response to a weapon that now accounts for nearly half of Russia's daily strikes on urban centers.
Beyond defensive measures, Ukraine has intensified its efforts to disrupt the source of these attacks. Recent strikes on the Tsymbulovo drone base in the Oryol region utilized Neptune missiles and domestic jet-powered drones, targeting the infrastructure supporting these launches. Meanwhile, intelligence reports indicate that Russia is aggressively expanding its manufacturing capacity in the Alabuga special economic zone. Documents confirmed by international officials suggest that a new carbon fibre facility could eventually support the production of up to 28,000 additional drones annually. With the front lines near Dobropillia currently under immense pressure from a numerically superior Russian force, the race to scale interceptor production has become a decisive factor for Ukraine's survival through the coming winter.
