Why a Product Lead Walked Away from a Decade at Nvidia

Antons Davis spent over fifteen years climbing the tech ladder, culminating in a decade-long tenure as a product design lead at Nvidia. Yet, despite achieving the financial security he once craved, he resigned in 2022, choosing to trade corporate stability for the unpredictable, human-centric pursuit of professional coaching.

Why a Product Lead Walked Away from a Decade at Nvidia

The transition was not a sudden impulse but a calculated shift. Davis, 40, had checked off his major life milestones—buying a home and securing his family’s future—only to find that reaching his financial zenith left him feeling hollow. While his colleagues at the Santa Clara firm were building cutting-edge gaming software, Davis felt a widening disconnect between his daily tasks and his personal sense of purpose. He opted to leave, relying on a three-year financial buffer built from liquidated company stock to fund his departure into the unknown.

Since then, his professional life has pivoted toward the intersection of technology and human connection. He founded the in-person coaching business Touch of Humane in early 2024 and subsequently launched Osmo, an AI-assisted platform designed to scale the quality of coaching. Davis argues that as AI increasingly handles repetitive knowledge work, the most valuable professional assets will be distinctly human traits like empathy, trust, and creative communication. While he acknowledges the loneliness of solopreneurship and the lack of the built-in validation he once enjoyed at Nvidia, he maintains that the trade-off is worth the agency he now possesses. His journey serves as a reminder that for many, the next chapter begins not with a master plan, but with the simple courage to follow a curiosity that feels more meaningful than a paycheck.
