Egypt Expects €1.5 Billion EU Cash Injection Within Days

Cairo is set to receive a €1.5 billion infusion from the European Union this week, marking the first of two final installments tied to a massive macro-financial support deal. Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty confirmed the timeline during a briefing held in Egypt’s new administrative capital alongside EU officials.

The upcoming transfer represents the third portion of a €5 billion assistance package designed to stabilize the nation's economy. According to Abdelatty, the remaining €3 billion will follow in two equal tranches of €1.5 billion, with the final payment expected to reach Cairo by the start of autumn.

Brussels has already disbursed €2 billion under this specific financial arrangement, split into two equal installments delivered earlier in 2025. This funding serves as a central pillar of a broader €7.4 billion agreement finalized in 2024, which encompasses a mix of concessional loans and economic aid aimed at bolstering Egypt's fiscal position.
